Le Peytol, a tiny
hamlet nestling in the heart of the Dordogne Valley, is the ideal retreat for
couples who are looking for a relaxing holiday in a tranquil
setting. Located halfway between Saint Cyprien and Castelnaud
la Chapelle,
it is conveniently situated for easy access to a wide range of
activities and places of interest.
Chateau des Milandes is only two kms away and can be accessed by
a footpath adjoining the property. The beautiful medieval towns
of Sarlat and Belves are less than fifteen kms, the Dordogne
river is a ten minute stroll, and for the more adventurous, horseriding, canoeing and ballooning are all just a short drive
away.
Guests have full use of
the spacious grounds which are dotted with
garden furniture and which are crossed by two streams
that feed the freshwater pond. Surrounded by a variety of fruit
trees you can gently unwind to the sound of trickling water and
birds singing……….and according to the season, enjoy picking your
own fruit. Alongside the pond is a lovely,
sheltered "abri" which has a fridge for your cool drinks,
a barbeque, a CD player, and subtle lighting and candles for
evening relaxation in a romantic setting.

We opened our first gite "Les Trois Chats"
in 2003. It's the pretty
annexe to our own beautifully restored
traditional stone house which was recorded, 300 years ago
as “The Master’s House”. This gite has double French doors
leading from the courtyard into a living/dining room
with exposed beams, a traditional
fireplace, comfortable settee and easy chair, satellite
television (if you really must!) video player and music
centre, as well as bookcases and a
coffee table |

The oak fitted corner kitchen, is
very well equipped and includes a fridge, microwave and
full size gas cooker. The
bathroom, with
bath and integral shower, is accessed from the
living room and an oak staircase leads to the spacious
bedroom which has a king size bed and
plenty of storage space for your clothes...... with the
wrought iron table, chairs,
barbeque, and two recliners
outside, this gite is a very comfortable “home from
home”. |

In 2006 we
converted our second gite and
are now delighted to offer “Le Grenier”, which
is a large apartment across the courtyard and above the barn.
This gite is accessed by wooden steps which lead to a large
wooden balcony with table and chairs. Entering the gite from the
balcony through double French doors, you will find a
large open plan dining/sitting room with corner kitchen,
a shower room (including an all singing, all
dancing “spa” shower) leading
off. |

The kitchen area has full
size gas cooker, microwave
and fridge, while the sitting area has
two comfy armchairs, coffee table and bookcase
as well as satellite television, video and CD player. Up
four stairs to the mezzanine you will find the king size
bed and bedroom furniture. This gite looks
out over the gardens and has its own barbecue and sitting out
area......all of which creates an extremely calm and soothing ambience. |

Both gites are
well equipped and furnished to a very high standard.
Many of our guests fly to the Dordogne, hire a car....
and therefore have limited luggage allowance!
We try
to ensure that you can travel light, so we provide
hairdryers, freezer bags and ice blocks, shopping bags
etc....as well as towels and
linen... all are included in
the price along with your
electricity and gas. Full
laundry facilities are available in the barn,
where you'll also find an excellent
selection of
books, videos, and games.....and
two (rather old now!) bikes..... all these are
offered free of charge to you as part of our commitment
to make this a memorable holiday in the beautfiul
Dordogne valley |
Outside Although
there are table, chairs,
and barbeque outside each gite, further outdoor
furniture is located under the “abri” near the pond and dotted
around the orchard. The “abri” has a fridge for your cool drinks
and subtle lighting for evening relaxation with barbecue
facilities available.

The Abri |
Welcome.......... however
you travel to the Dordogne you don’t need to worry about the
time of arrival. If you arrive a little early you can sit out
in the garden with a glass of wine, if you’re delayed past your
anticipated arrival time just let us know and we’ll ensure
we're there to greet you ……..with
another glass of wine (or a cup
of tea!).
You'll
find a “welcome” pack of essentials in the
gite and there is a superb market in
Saint Cyprien on Sunday morning, however we are also willing to collect
any further
shopping at supermarket prices to aid your
arrival.
As we don’t
like to rush you away on the morning of departure…11.00am is
fine... we say
your
gite will be ready after 4.00pm
so that we have time to ensure a smooth handover and maintain
our own high standards.
Children..........while we
specifically cater for couples, the bedroom in both gites is
large enough to take a child's bed or cot......both are
available as are a high chair, bicycle child seat, and car
seat.........so if you have a young child, or baby, please ask
us for further information.
What
our guests are saying!
"....we've had a lovely time - the gite has
been everything we hoped for."
